Before Your Test
How to prepare.
A little preparation makes your report more accurate — and saves you a second visit.
Fasting tests
- Nothing to eat or drink except plain water for 8–12 hrs
- No tea, coffee, milk or chewing gum
- Come between 7 and 10 AM for fasting samples
Medicines
- Continue regular medicines unless your doctor says otherwise
- Tell us about blood thinners and thyroid medicine
- Take thyroid tablets after the sample, not before
Urine & stool
- Use the sterile container we give you
- First morning urine, mid-stream, is best
- Bring stool samples within 1–2 hours
What to bring
- Doctor’s prescription, if you have one
- Old reports, for comparison
- A sleeve that rolls up easily
